An explosive start by the Red Sox in the first game of the 2013 World Series. They crush the Cardinals: 8 - 1.
Starting pitcher struggling. Defense sloppy. This sums up the way the Cardinals played tonight.
They better get their act together to have a fighting chance against the Red Sox...

Outside of wanting to see a close series, the Cards did put a smile on my face with their play. The only problem was that they didn't play this way against the Cubs during the regular season. :-)

I'd like to see a close World Series, too. It's no fun to watch a World Series where one of the teams is too dominant.
Anyway, I think the Cardinals will make the proper adjustments so that the lopsided game we saw last night will not happen again.
I still believe that the Red Sox and Cardinals are evenly matched. It will be an interesting game tonight...

The way the first game started, I thought we were going to have a re-run of Game 1 of the 2004 World Series.

Another sweep? I hope not... (Remembering how that particular series ended).

Another sweep? I hope not... (Remembering how that particular series ended). With nearly 5,000 Red Sox fans, who made most of the noise in Busch Stadium the last three innings, stood around the Boston dugout, cheering and chanting "Thank you Red Sox" for more than 40 minutes after the game???

Biggest complaint out here in Red Sox Land is all the Wacha coverage...not the loss mind you...but the Damn Fox Wacha coverage!

Cardinals edge Red Sox, 5-4, in a dramatic and controversial win! With the game tied at the bottom of the ninth, 4-4, the umpire calls an interference call against the 3rd baseman of the Red Sox, Middlebrooks, as Craig of the Cardinals was running towards the home base, allowing him to score, costing the Red Sox the 3rd game of the World Series. The Cardinals now lead the World Series, 2-1... Full details of the interference/obstruction call: Official Rules: 7.00 The RunnerExplanation from Joe Torre and the umpires: Explanation...

It was the right call. Whether it was intentional or not, his legs raised at the same time as Craiig trying to take off. Already seen a bunch of Red Sox fans whining about when you hit the ground, it is natural for your laegs to raise up like that from momentum. They do, but these geniuses are failing to note the time gap between when he hit the ground and his legs raised a little and went back down, then raised alot when Craiig was trying to take off. Would rather see the game won on a base hit, but it was the right call.

What happened in the 3rd game of the World Series - the obstruction call - at the bottom of the 9th has unleashed a flurry of heated debates and discussions.
I'm a Yankee fan. But in the absence of the Yankees in this World Series I'm rooting for the Red Sox. I have to admit, though, that the umpire made the right call. At least that's my opinion based on my understanding of the rules.
Anyway, it is what it is. For those rooting for the Red Sox, we just hope that they bounce back in tonight's game...
