I've created a thread over at the Strategy baseball forum after reading Jabez54's reply to Shaun's accusations of theft in a now locked thread. My thread is probably going to deleted over there so I'm copying it here for posterity as I'm uncomfortable with the behavior over there.

Really doesn't matter how uncomfortable you can be... Every game, every merchandise, every invention or whatever has been created, are not self alone but a chain of events that will lead to a better way of Life for everyone... PureSim is a fantastic game of it's own genre... Unfortunately, as you know, Shaun, has chosen not to let his fans know what has been happening during the last three years, especially his supposedly new Game on the horizon... never materialized... He left you all hanging... and made his presence known over at SB, NOT HERE!... Which I'm sure will upset many, thanks to you, Mr. Perfect...
Just like there are so many different brands of Refrigerators... you choose your kind of refrigerator, as I have chosen mine.. This refrigerator (PureSim) has discontinued... no future parts going to replace any malfunction this Game may produce... going to faze back to the Hall of Fame Games, Like the Earl Weaver of it's time era.. I had moved on to a similar Game, like PureSim but better... It's FREE, a FULL SCREEN DISPLAY, and many more extras are coming to the future...
Strategy Baseball is alive... PureSim is dead... Your choice... I want a cool and more efficient refrigerator than a dead one...

Tell me this, There are so many different style of Self-Defense Schools... If one is familiar in such, there will noticed similar style of punches, kicks and such movements to create a self defense mechanism to it's adversary... As has been, from the beginning, one claimed to copy certain movement from them... but in reality, these things are always evolving to a better and more efficient way of handling one self... Look at UFC, from it's first tournament to now... Fighters has been evolving... better fight techniques... This is true in every products, in every software, etc... etc... (all have similar common denominator/parts/codes)
Same in Religions, where there are over 2000 Christian denominations... each to their own...
The point I'm saying is... Just because you have a different view, your own hardcore belief in between PS and SB, of theft of codes... I, disagree... this style of Genre is evolving to a better Game - Strategy Baseball... Granted it's still in infancy is a better Game... My opinion...
Like I said, you can remain supportive to a DEAD "HOF" Game... Shaun is never coming back... It will fade into non-existence - a sweet memory...
I'm moving forward to a a live Game, with tremendous potential for it's future... where Crash will be able to answer anyone's questions, with updated patches to better this style of Genre Baseball game...

This PureSim form has always been a form of discussion of a game not bickering and trolling each other. I prefer not to have bickering here. But I guess that would be to much to ask. I wish Shaun would pick-up and start this game again. There is room for everyone.

I have no hardcore belief between PS & SB, I have only dallied with PS, but you are defending a game that Shaun has stated is 80% his code and has been stolen. You think that's ok because it moves the game forward as Shaun has stopped making it.
That is wrong. It's Shaun's game to do as chooses, not yours or Crash's. If he gave permission to do so then well and good but he didn't. He only stated that he doesn't have the energy to chase it up. While that may be permission by default, it's still wrong and extremely bad form. You have a strange sense of ethics but at least you get the game you want eh?

I have no knowledge of the Shaun/crash interaction.
Strategy looks to be a continuation of puresim ( as in the same code but in active development). I sure would like to see the game developed as it is a great simulator. Shaun appears to be the principal author and I would think he should be credited, at the least. I have no idea of the legality of the situation.
My opinion means nothing. I just like baseball and replaying old seasons to learn more about baseball history. The situation is unfortunate. For the sake of fairness I hope Shaun and Crash can come to a mutual agreement/understanding.

Looking back, I realized I did come across upset, with Shaun, for disappearing at lengths and with broken promises because but I did jumped the bandwagon of Strategy Baseball: strategy-baseball.freeforums.net/Despite of the fallout between Shaun and Crash, during those years ago... but time does heal all wounds, at least from my point of view... Crash, has made tremendous input and still very much active with the same genre of PureSim... after all these years... and still a FREE game... nothing like OOTP 20, though and Still the King and Gold Standard of all PC Baseball games... I still love the simple concept that Shaun has generated, and Crash has took it further... into a better way... Just couldn't helped wondering of what Shaun could of done and along with Crash, into today of playing... I do missed the camaraderie that PureSim and Shaun's had exhibited during those wonderful years... the constant upgrading and patching... the strong loyal connection between comrades of the PureSim's World... and do missed the companionship of those long passed and gone on to a better place... It's truly was magnificent time period from the Matrix's days, through Wolverine's Studio, and finally owned PureSim site... Unfortunately, what's left are those scammers/bots pilfering this once, a wonderful forum... just a monument like the old Romans of the bygone years ago... Just am glad, that Crash, has carried on this genre of Baseball to those who like simple way of playing... even though, the crowd are gone and not like it once was, but the Game has carried forward... While, I am recently retired... I have taken up the task of continuing updating (daily from different site and OOTP's) the photos of all the players, with better photos from 1900's (does includes from 1870's) to currently 2019... and hopefully passed it on to the Game, before I, too, meet my Maker... and be on the sideline cheering "The Field of Dreams" with the other compatriots of PureSim and Strategy Baseball... Sheesh, how I love Baseball and this type of simple game... Jabez54 |
