Evening, Mates...
Long time, no see...
As you recalled, when I wished you all a Merry Christmas and the ending of PureSim... I'm so sorry to see you all has been duped and frustrated with Shaun's disappearing act...
But rest assured, I'm here to point a different direction... a Free Baseball Game... I was there from it's infancy, a couple of years ago... (wondering if Shaun ever going to do something with his Game...)... I had latched on with Crash... the mate who was working along side with Shaun... he was the one who created all the side stats for PS... anyway, he has his own Game called, Strategy Baseball - www.strategy-baseball.com/ - .. a different style of playing, more stricter, more fun, with alot more stats to work with...
So, I'm inviting you all to come on over to download the Game and get in with the forum: - strategy-baseball.freeforums.net/ - .... and let get the next Game alive again... I promise you, this forum will be like the olden days but much better... What do you have to lose but get those old fashion passion for Baseball, alive and well!!
Jabez...

The game did not load on my computer. Just a large green baseball screen appears. I am using Windows 10. Is this game not compatible with Windows 10? Thanks.

Afternoon, fmarcano1955...
It would be best if you come on over to the strategy-baseball.freeforums.net/ ... and aired out the issue there, for I'm sure Crash would be there, soon to answer your issue... as for Windows 10, it is very compatible... it may be if your screen display is less than 1920x1080... I have no problem using this great Game... Just come on over, and aired out your issue there... here, Crash can't see the problem you are having...
Jabez
PS, thanks for giving the new Free Game a chance...

the new games looks allot like puresim in UI. I guess this is due to Crash working closely with Shawn. I like the fact that this game supports bigger screen displays.

Many thanks, sth0009 and others, for joining up over and trying out the Game... in ways, it does with PS, but in many ways the Game has alot to offer, especially in strictness and a slewful of stats...
Awesome and glad you like it!!

Hey, Howard!!
This game and forum is separate from SB and forum, over there... you have to recreate your name and password under Strategy-Baseball...
Thrilled you are loving it!! Wishing the rest of you, mates, to come on over... It's FREE, with a FULL Screen Display, along with many extras!!

My memory isn't what it used to be but did not Crash try to rip off Shawn and Puresim a few years back? Am I thinking about the right person? Anyway, if Shawn is OK with it then I am. But I will not support anyone who steals from one game to incorporate into their own version of the game. Hopefully this is not the case.
Go 'Stros!

Max...
Here the Gist of things... there were some development (We don't know the real story that went on behind those doors) between Crash and Shaun... the only thing that I remembered was Crash was given the go ahead to develop the Game, while Shaun can fully focus on his software business... the Game has made much improvement with Crash's development under Shaun's blessings... there has been a question of money deal between the two (as in most cases, of partnership, involved)... So Crash left, and Shaun has to go backward to his original setup of the Game - since he can't used what Crash has done with PS - up to that time... and soon after, Shaun ended up leaving the Wolverines site ( No Fault on Gary's side - a great creator of his own fantastic Games), and started his own site to offer a free game... he hasn't done anything with the version 6.12 for three years...
So between the two games, Crash has use the PS similar style of play in with Strategy Baseball... the Game is FREE, with many improvements, an incredible accuracy of Historic and very realistic Fictional Mode that PS cannot touch... The SB Game is FUN...
Since, Shaun has abandon the Game, fans, website... while I do appreciated the Game as being free but I did not appreciated the way it had ended and being totally ignored with no responses... Meanwhile, Crash's Game has been leaps and bounds over Shaun's (FULL SCREEN DISPLAY, as an example)... He will take this style of Game further, with tremendous potentials, to a greater height and keeping this style of Gaming alive and free...
So, my choice is obvious... going with Crash's Game... PureSim will always have a special place in my heart, as much as Earl Weaver's Game... Just Strategy Baseball is alive and has a potential of further Greatness for a thriving forum, camaraderie, and much further improvements of this style of playing that we all grown to love...

I have to confess, I am of two minds here...which is two more than I normally am credited with having.
Part of me wants to continue with PS; I have been a player for at least 15 years, and I have enjoyed it every day--it never gets old. The other part of me feels like maybe the death knell is sounding, or has already sounded, for PS. This is hard to wrap my mind around. Now, as far as the "other" game goes...I can tell by the screen shots that large chunks of code were taken directly from PS, and I doubt if Shaun approved of such blatant thievery. Free game or no, I don't feel comfortable supporting someone who would stoop that low.
Just for S&G, I downloaded the install file...but I have not decided whether to go any further. So, a few questions. Will this newcomer run comfortably on the same machine as PS, or would I have to uninstall it? And how about mods, which I have a ton of for PS--face packs, stadiums (stadia?), the whole enchilada--are they compatible/usable? How steep is the learning curve? And will any of my PS associations run in this game, or will I be starting from scratch?
And...damn it Shaun, where are you?

bustoff, that is the problem we all have with PureSim. As I am sure you know Shaun has left us hanging for some time now. Back in the day Shaun was not able to spend time on the game. So he had Crash come on board and make the fixes and improvements. For (some years) awhile Crash preformed all of the updates. I do not know why there was a falling out between them. I can't see that much difference from one baseball game to the other. Even APBA and OOTP screens look similar. After all how many different ways can you display a baseball game or field. I purchased Shaun's game many times. I even paid so a few others could enjoy PureSim. If Shaun should come back I would get his new game again.
Each person must decide for themselves what to do with Crashes game. I am playing the game.
