I think you miss read redfox000's comments. PureSim stated life as a fictional only game. Most of the improvements over the years were devoted to the historical side of the game. For us fictional players improvements need to be made on how the game handles players and rosters. There is a need for the fictional side of this game to perform more realistically. Just my 2 cents. Don Oh, Don- I assure you, I feel the exact same way. I do enjoy a few historical replays, but the base of my gaming is the fictional world. I enjoy the ease and control with which you can build, manage, enjoy and sustain a long-term fictional-world association. Though what you've pointed out is true; there is still room for improvement as in the later years, finances get very much out of hand, salaries, while high, don't make sense (top-dollar for a bench-warmer), etc. I thought that redfox was suggesting the game should have an option to be played from the perspective of a specific, individual player- a concept that I am wholeheartedly against. If this isn't what he meant, then I'd happily back-track my comments as they simply wouldn't apply. -FS For the record I was not suggesting the focus be on a single baseball player. God, that would be awful! I was suggesting more focus for those of use who don't do MP (and instead just do SP) and for those of us who don't want to just do historical replays. In other words, as a player I want to start today with a set of fictional rosters and build my career as a GM from there.

How do you think the game is at all geared towards MP to the level where you feel it should be more SP? I feel the complete opposite and think that it's almost entirely geared towards SP. Not that there's anything wrong with that, as that's how I play the game, but I think the game is almost entirely SP-focused with MP as an afterthought. Again, this isn't a bad thing; it just is. This leads me to a follow-up question: how do you think the game could be changed/improved to be more SP-friendly or SP-focused? (I'm assuming we're using SP to represent Single-Player and MP being Multi-Player?)

I guess I am too used to games like FOF where they gear a lot of development towards multi-player gameplay. It has been a while since I played Puresim so maybe I was wrong there. I just generally don't like all the MP games because I am 40+ yrs with 4 kids and a life. So I don't have the time/money to play those and instead just like to dabble in it when I have time. So I guess my only suggestion then was to fix the future gameplay in terms of finances/salary cap/etc that has been mentioned a few times now.

I'm with you there, bud- 40+ years and just 1 kid, but still not much free time. So, the luxury of being able to play when I want to play and when I have the free time is one of the bigger reasons why Puresim is so convenient and why I focus purely on the SP aspect.
...and yes, I agree 110% on the matters of the ridiculous changes on future finances and illogical AI decisions relating to that (overpaying veterans by astronomical levels only for them to sit on the bench or wallow in the minors).

What I also liked was separating out AAA, AA, A minor leagues. IIRC, the newest version lumped them together.

Hey folks, just a quick note that I have begun a project to reboot/update PureSim. It is going to take a long time, but I do plan on making the development process open as in the past so I'll post more news here when I have some. The current version will always be around and remain free, but the reboot will be a commercial product (probably around $19.99 - $29.99). That said, I won't get ahead of myself. I'd like to use this thread for suggestions or improvements you'd like to see. Please post here. Shaun I know this is 8.5 months late but....YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!

I would like the ability to create a post-game write-up, similiar to what OOTP does.

Morning, Shawn...
I just noticed you had just visited today... Are you able to tell us what's going on with the latest development of PureSim or have any plan for updating the latest Lahman Baseball database of 2016... (Since the database has added some features that can doom some Baseball games out there, hopefully not our beloved PureSim...)
Hopefully, all is well with you and family...
Jabez

This game is truly fantastic. I have loved playing it the last two years. Over the years, I have only 3 problems with PureSim:
1. Like mentioned before, the draft/minor leagues should hold more players
2. Also mentioned before, the money in fantasy play gets way out of whack
3. This is my biggest problem, just because I'm a little OCD. Closers shouldn't be able to go 5 innings, and Starters shouldn't have the endurance to go 20 complete games per season. And they also shouldn't have 300 innings per season.
Again, these are my only problems. Overall, the coolest baseball simulator EVER! Please fix. Thank you!!! Whenever you come in to fix/update puresim, thank you! This game is so cool

It has been over a year now and I am still waiting on news and updates. It feels like life has caught up with Shaun. Running a business can take up a lot of your time and efforts.

Hey, Don...
Didn't realized ... or hoping not to realize... it has been that long since Shaun's last texted us about the Game being rebooted..
You're way too kind to say kind words regarding to the quietness of Shaun's last teaser...
Between you and me (and obviously the rest of PureSimmers) that's still no excuse for no interaction between the Game's creator and us...
Just a simple one liner would do... (For I do hope that he has a better communication skills with his current business/associates/friends and family)...
Still no excuse.... but our lives has gone forward with this beautiful FREE gem of the game, playing with sandlot zestfulness, whenever we get the chance...
For what it worth, Thanks Shaun, for enlightening our lives with your Game over the years...
Jabez, one of the Oldtimers....

Don, Oldtimer & of course Shaun
It would be nice to know if PureSim baseball is still going to be available into the future, either as the free game that supports my 6.11 version still and/or a new, improved version that all of us could purchase if we so desired. I have shared what I have been doing with the game and my feelings about it. Also mentioning some small problems that should be corrected in a retail version and including some suggestions to be considered. Both of you are correct in desiring Shaun's interaction yet understanding that this game is not his most important task in his everyday life. I am going to continue working on all the 13 associations I am organizing, the Excel files I have done to track the players and the other things tied to the game with the hope that the PureSim baseball game (including my 6.11 version) will remain viable for a long time to come. Without Shaun's communications it is the only way I can go. I just hope that Shaun is working on the game and that in that process he is checking our suggestions and problems with bugs noted on this site. Shaun, I add my thanks to Oldtimer's and my hope that it is just life's ordinary problems that have kept you silent for so long and not something far more serious. God bless you and keep watch over you.

all,
I too add my appreciation for this free game. My support is there for any retail version going forward. I am thankful for what shaun has provided for us and I hope he is well; and the reboot is still in his plans. Best wishes to all during the upcoming holidays.
cheers.
