Hey folks, just a quick note that I have begun a project to reboot/update PureSim.
It is going to take a long time, but I do plan on making the development process open as in the past so I'll post more news here when I have some.
The current version will always be around and remain free, but the reboot will be a commercial product (probably around $19.99 - $29.99). That said, I won't get ahead of myself.
I'd like to use this thread for suggestions or improvements you'd like to see. Please post here.

SHAUN!!!!!
I just wanted to scream your name and know that you'd see it!!
I have a bit of a laundry list of stuff to change, but I'll try to organize it and get back to you.
Nice to see that you're alive and doing well.

Three things come to mind right away; the first being something I've wanted since PureSim 2007 and still want now. (1) MORE FILTERSI THINK it's a small request overall and something I think would be easy to implement, but also something that would help me (at least) greatly. I would like a Fourth or Fifth Filter when looking for players. Currently the game allows you to filter players with three categories. However, sometimes I want just... one.... more. For example, if I'm looking for a young power hitter with great potential, it's nice to be able to set minimums for their Power, Contact and Eye, but I would also like to filter them by Potential. Sure, as it currently stands, you can filter by the first three fields and then SORT them by potential, but technically you could do that with anything. This way, you really narrow down your choices to find the person you truly want. If I had a Fifth Filter, I could also choose a minimum (or maximum) Age. I can't imagine it would be too difficult to add two more filters, other than gobbling up some more screen space. (2) GREATER SALARY RANGEJust recently I was in the Free Agent period and wanted to offer a player more then a competing team. However, I was limited by the relatively narrow percentage range. Basically they offered him $3.5 mil for x-number of years, but when I slid the bar ALL the way to the right, the most I was allowed to offer was $3.9 mil. He ended up going with them and it was entirely beyond my control. If there was a way we could MANUALLY enter an amount (or some manner of drop-down menu where we could select pre-determined increments with a wide, generous range) that would be epic. This way if I WANT to overpay for a player, it's my constitutional right to waste money as I see fit! (3) BRING BACK FULL-SCREEN?Nothing would make me happier than to run and HDMI cable from my laptop to the flatscreen TV and play PureSim in 48" of 1080 glory.

(These next two are problems that I had mentioned in a previous post of mine, several months ago. I unearthed it and Cut-N-Paste the issues, since they're both still valid)
(4) ONE-MAN-GANG I still see that glitch where an AI team only carries 1 catcher and the poor, exhausted bastard has to play every game. In the latest PS6 version that I have (6.12a), teams seem to be allergic to catchers. It isn't uncommon for a team to show an exhausted catcher still getting the start because there are no other catchers available on the team. In fact, I've even seen them demote and/or cut perfectly good backups. I believe that in the real-wold, it's commonplace for a team to have 2 catchers; rarely 3 (in the event they can serve as backup for another position). However, I'm finding that teams running along with just 1 catcher in the Majors is the new normal- I believe there was even a case once where I spotted a team with NO catchers at all!
(5) OVERPAID BENCH-WARMERS In one modern-era association I'm running, it's 2015 and the Orioles signed A-Rod for 1 year at $25 mil... and he's being used as Utility player. No joke. About 93 games in, he 1-for-5 (ON THE YEAR). That makes no sense; why pay that much for a bench-warmer? The second-highest paid position player was (of all people) Jepp Keppinger, who signed a 2-year, $24.2 million deal with the Giants because apparently they too needed a rich heiny to warm the seats. Jeff is 1-for-7 on the year. An honorable mention, 5th-highest paid, is Curtis Granderson. Signed by the Yankees for 1 year and $20.6 million, he's 3-for-14 on the year. Again, this is 93 games into the year... if it were 5 games, or even 10, I could probably understand, but that's a lot of WASTED money spent on people who aren't just performing poorly, but they aren't even PLAYING much, thus unable to EARN a better performance.

Great news Shaun!I'll try to jot things down as I notice them and put together a list. One thing that sticks out off the top of my head is pitchers with low velocity or control ratings (below 20 or 30). They get absolutely hammered and end up with absurd k/bb ratios and ERAs. For straight season replays, ratings for fill-in guys with a few real-life appearances need to somehow be normalized so that they can at least compete at the major league level in PureSim. Or else adjust the AI so that it does not draft these kinds of players in fantasy drafts or call up minor leaguers with low ratings so soon.

Unexpected but wonderful news! I always have a few ideas and I will share when the time comes. Credit card at the ready. Pure Sim has always been a great bargain at any price!

I could not agree with this man more! It's funny how I had a few ideas which were floating on the surface and which I could reply with immediately, but there's a longer list of stuff we wanted to see updated/changed/fixed; it's just a matter of where we put it?!?!

I'm certainly not expecting an improved and free product, but a little somethin'-somethin' off for enduring loyalty would be nice to see. (... of course, I'm hooked and it's happening no matter what, but... times are tough these days)

I was going to put this in the Bug Report, but I don't know if it's really a bug or just bad AI decision-making. Here's the box score from the game: Note Allen Lamar's performance. It was a career-best day and it's not a misprint; 4 HRs, 7 RBI, 5-for-6. So he should win Player of the Game, no? How could he not? Well... If you ask me, my young center-fielder William Christman must be sleeping with the owner's wife.
