I have just noticed an oddity about some position players. For my 13 associations set up for the year 1950, I am pulling players from all the years of baseball to populate the 30 teams in each association. I am now playing the June 22 games in the 1st association (Atlantic) which is the only one that I have gotten started (Pacific association is populated, but I have not yet pulled all the players to the 30 teams so that I have not yet gone to spring training).
The oddity of the Atlantic association is that the players actually from 1950 (year is added to names) are all set up with the same batting ratings - for contact, 5; power, 4; and eye, 5. I took a look at each of them when I got frustrated with Yogi Berra only hitting .085 and found that his parameters for these attributes were low. So I checked all the other Atlantic association position players that actually played in 1948-52 and found that only the ones where the year played was 1950 had the same identical ratings for batting as show above. The rest of the players appeared to be set up correctly since their ratings were quite varied.
What makes this even more intriguing is that when I checked my Pacific association for 1950 players, I found that unlike the Atlantic association players that actually played in that year, their ratings for contact, power and eye seemed to be alright because these attributes were quite varied as they should be. Interesting discrepancy between the two associations' 1950 players!?! So does this oddity in the ratings for the position players that actually played in 1950 occur when spring training takes place with the system (for some reason) redoing only those players that their year matches the year of the association?!?
I will now have to work to get my Pacific association to the point where I can run spring training!!! To get to the point where I can proceed with the Pacific association, I need to rework my new game schedule. The schedule that I redid for the Atlantic association is working ok but it is not set up quite like I really wanted it to be; so I have been working to improve it. I guess I will have to push to get it done so I can see if the Pacific association 1950 players get adjusted like the Atlantic seemed to have been after Spring training.
If there are any of you that are drawing multi-year players into a fantasy year association; I wonder if you have noticed the oddity of identical ratings for batting on your position players where their year matches the fantasy association year? I would appreciate you checking and letting me know.
