Does the "Career Stage" comment (located after the players age on their information card, i.e. "Developing", "Starting to Peak" or "In Steep Decline") have any influence in how the player plays either in the field or when he is batting in the game? Or is it just a comment to give us an idea where that player stands in his career? Because I am setting up my 9 associations, 270 teams, utilizing most of the players at least once, I have found instances where these comments do not really reflect the career status of the player for the year I am going to use. That is why I am wondering if it does have some affect!
Update on my project. I have now entered into my Excel data base at least one year for all the hitters I have decided to use, now I am in process of entering multiple playing years for selected players i.e. Cobb, Speaker, Ruth, Munson, Yaz, Bonds. I have over 6,250 players in the base so far, some are multiples already; I am planning to have about 7,250 when I get done and start picking rosters of 25 hitters (and 15 pitchers) for each team. The pitching Excel data base has over 3,000 in it so far but I figure I am only about 30% done with it because I have not yet added some of the stats for those I have chosen. So I have quite a ways to go on the pitching side for it to be complete.
I have finished assigning logos to all 270 teams, fixed my team colors and set the manager decision parameters. I am keeping a log of team logos and names to prevent me from duplication.
When I get tired working on the above hitter and pitcher Excel data bases, I am assigning stadium pictures to teams and setting the fence dimensions to conform somewhat to the pictures. I am also keeping a log on this information, I wish that there were 15 fence distance dimensions to adjust so that any fence irregularities could be better defined in the game to reflect juts in or out but this would probably cause massive problems for ball flight & fence height calculations for the program. Back to what I am doing.
Another part of this project is an Excel defense sheet for each team to show at a glance, how a player performs (hands + range) at each of the eight positions on the field, color coding them so it is easily compared to another players status at that position. The color coding depends on the sum (h + r) and begins at (80-99), then goes to (100-115),(116-130),(131-145),145-160),(161-175), with the last slot being (176-200). This sheet really helps during game play when you need to substitute. Besides the players name and the hand & range info, I note batting side, throwing arm stat and speed on the bases.
I am still refining the new 30 team association play schedule, so that it reflects all teams playing at least 2 games against the other 29 teams in the association. If it does load and play out correctly, it will be really neat to have that ability and see all those different stadiums, logos and players in an association play each other - !!! Multiplied by 9 different associations where it will happen !!!
That finishes my update (if any of you are interested)
