First time I heard of Yogi was 1955. I was 6 years old watching the Game of the Week with Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee. Yogi hit a ball low and out of the strike zone for a homerun to right field. Mantle hit a homerun just before Yogi's at bat to deep right center field at Yankee Stadium. The two of them made me become a Yankee fan. Now all of the players of my youth are gone. Rest in peace Yogi.

I'm not a Yankee fan but respect the wonderful history of the franchise. What a colorful guy Yogi (awesome player too).It always seemed the Yankee players were more memorable to me probably due to the incredible success of the teams and the media exposure they received.I became a Giant (SF) fan following Willie McCovey and Willie Mays.1966 is one of my favorite seasons - 50 years ago!Players come and go but the great ones always leave a lasting impression on me.Yogi Berra surely has.
