I really fail to understand why this free game isn't attracting more people. No, it isn't perfect, but for my particular historical style of play I can't find anything better at present. I've made my gripes apparent already, but what about the rest of you?

PureSim Baseball Game is, really, a brilliant little Game that has way more options, more ways to play in so many different formats, in the most simplistic and the easiest steps to setup the Career/Replay Leagues than any Baseball Game of it size ... Yes, I have been playing this Game since 2006 ...
I have, at times, try to play other baseball Games but I am still attached and still enjoying playing PureSim ... OOTP is the Giant of all Baseball Games ... I have bought OOTP each season since the 10th version, as well as, versions 1 to 5 ... the options are just unbelievable and still overwhelming ... with the hope in getting myself immerse but still stuck inside the front door ... their Mod forum is just an unbelievable experience, the best I have ever seen ... for I have been able to gleam and keep adding into my PS Mod folder to enhance my overall PS experience, than ever before ...
Now, Baseball Mogul, which unfortunately, has been on the downhill roll ... That Game hasn't been the same in a long while ... I am hoping that Clay (his lack of involvement with the forum, in a while, has not helped much) will produce BM16, at it's finest or else the Game will fade into memory ... There are other fine Baseball Games (www.sportsreplays.net/baseball.htm) but a little more complicated and less fun for me to enjoy ...
I know I have mentioned Crash ("Here he go, again", the Diehards groan again )... despite of what had happened between him and Shaun, but I do loved with what he had done in producing better overall results with the stats ... it was his xml that I was able to incorporate into Shaun's xml and gained a better enjoyment and to correct with the additional adding of the years that was missing ... now the Game has better results ...
My pet peeves with PureSim are known among you but what will it accomplished if I aired them, now ...
The biggest reason why the Game is not attracting more mates because of the lack of Shaun's appearance and patches to correct the bugs/issues ... while PureSim is a free Game, the participation has been shrinking to a ghost town ... OOTP is growing more and more because of the major contributions from Mod geniuses, Markus and the sheer endless members of old and newbies, alike ...
But in the end, PureSim has become a Legend to us ... where at our homes, we have our Field of Dreams, where we can managed and watched our leagues continue to flourish in the way we had played since the Sandlot days ... Pure and Simple ... and most importantly, having FUN in the childlike ways, as we once did, so long ago ... and Thats Baseball !!

If OOTP was as user friendly as PureSim, I would be over there. I think PS graphics are much better looking as well. I would love to have the options on players and call ups having to pass waivers when sent back down at times. It adds more to the decision making process. The minors need structure just like PS does. They need to be set to an active, standard 25 man roster just like the Majors. Yes, you will have to make decisions for them as well if you are playing system wide as GM. If only ML manager, you take what you get or also control who comes up, but AI GM controls transactions and you could lose players you don't want to lose because you are not in control of that part. That would be crazy. If somebody took some of each and added a couple of changes, that would e the ultimate BB game. Plus when playing the game, the field is larger ad less crowded looking than OOTP unless I missed something in the demo that makes the field full screen optional. I will continue to stick with PS until I think there is something better out there. It would have to be an awful lot to beat PS though.

Outside of what Tomas has already mentioned, I feel that the game is currently geared towards the historical player. If you try and play a modern association, you run into more issues that you will not notice in a historical one. Here is a small sample:
1. The Financial system of the game needs a complete overhaul. While you do have some disparity between cities, their really isn't any budget. Not only are the finances of each team still unrealistic, but there really isn't any budget. I don't have to make any hard decisions as the cash available to me is way too much (and the same for the AI teams). I should be forced to make hard decisions if I am in smaller market, not just having a player decide he doesn't want to play for me.
2. We should have larger roster sizes, so you can develop players in the minors.
3. There should be a larger draft (or at least allow for it to be customized).
As I mentioned this is just a small list. I shouldn't have to put into place so many house rules in order to make things competitive. The game should be organic out of the box.
Don't get me wrong PureSim has a lot of positives, but since I like to play a more modern version of baseball the above takes away from my fun.

Yes, I largely agree with blazertaz. This is why I stick with the Golden Age era of 1946-60. Now, I would love to play out a historical career league starting in 2000 or 2001, but until the financials get straightened out there's no way that the game is satisfactory for me in the modern era. That is sad.

There are pros and cons to both games.
Love the flexibility of OOTP. For me, this is really the main selling point of the game. You can create just about any kind of league you want with it. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want it to be; your imagination is your only limit.
But I have to agree that its interface is a bit complicated. The OOTP people has still much work to do, to make it more user-friendly. Also, the graphics and play-by-play presentation of Puresim is better. But that is about to change if the OOTP people can get the 3D ballparks to work properly in the next versions.
Also, it seems that Puresim's AI for historical play is more realistic. Although I really don't do historical play, I just take the word of those who have played historical in both games.
On the other hand, Puresim's financials needs to be improved, to say the least.
Having said that, I love both games. And even though these days I prefer playing OOTP, I still have a special affection for Puresim, because it was the first baseball sim I ever played...

I really have enjoyed playing the game since I started 2 years ago. The ease of play and the options of how to play really are nice. I have been playing the 1st of my 13 associations since last fall ( with time out for 3 months of illness ) and am enjoying the game more and more. I am now in mid-May with that play while working to get the 2nd association staffed. I have also added 375 stadiums and 400 logos for selection to the teams, this along with the team colors assigned add extra visual variety to the game. Each association is in sandbox mode with 30 teams each, the players span from baseball's beginning to 2013 (playing v6.11) on each of those teams. I have changed the game schedule to one where all the teams in the association play each other at least 2 games (15 teams other league). When I get the 2nd association all set up and through spring training, I will post how I did the process for changing the game schedule for the 2nd association (I want to make sure the process detail is complete and correct for anyone else who is interested in changing a schedule) rather than trying to remember exactly how I did it for the first one. I am retired and living on reduced SS so this is a very great pleasure to be able to play this game since I have little money for anything that is not a necessity. I wish to thank Shaun again for all his past hard work and his extreme generosity in sharing this pleasurable product with us. I hope that sometime in the future I can again donate a little to Shaun to show my continued appreciation for him and his baseball game.

I've made my gripes apparent already, but what about the rest of you? Since I do not do historical replay, it doesn't really work for me. I like to take fictional players start at, say year 2000, and play forward. The financial system get broken pretty quickly in this scenerio.

This game is truly fantastic. I have loved playing it the last two years. Over the years, I have only 3 problems with PureSim:
1. Like mentioned before, the draft/minor leagues should hold more players
2. Also mentioned before, the money in fantasy play gets way out of whack
3. This is my biggest problem, just because I'm a little OCD. Closers shouldn't be able to go 5 innings, and Starters shouldn't have the endurance to go 20 complete games per season. And they also shouldn't have 300 innings per season.
Again, these are my only problems. Overall, the coolest baseball simulator EVER! Please fix. Thank you!!!
