Despite getting knocked out in the playoffs, the Pittsburgh Pirates' resurgence has been rewarded by Hurdle being selected manager of the year and McCutchen being named NL MVP. The only problem is that the expectations have been raised much higher in 2014. Many Pirates fans expect the Bucs to raise the bar higher and make it to the WS. Their first goal is to win the NL Central, and I expect that to be a three-team dogfight with the Cardinals and the Reds. In any case, I look forward to the next season, but I will keep my hopes in check, as everyone else is going to be gunning for the Bucs next year.

It's good to see the Bucs good again. I grew up in the 70's when it was the Bucs and the Phillies in many division races. I wish they were still in the same division. After all they are from the same state.
