Anyone notice a decrease in talent levels in the amateur draft as a league progresses? I'm in a league that started in 2012 and is now in 2025. As an example, among the hitters in the current amateur draft, there is 1 player with a CH rating higher than 50 (at 53). There are 6 hitters with PH ratings higher than 50 (the highest at 66).
Now, in the early years of the league, the top hitters in the amateur draft would have CH and PH ratings in the 60's and 70's, along with high POT ratings. Even deep into the 3rd and 4th rounds there would be guys with ratings in the 50's. Now when you get into the 3rd round you're picking guys with ratings in the 20's and 30's.
The same pattern is happening with amateur/rookie pitchers. Is the talent level actually gone down? Have I done something to change how these ratings appear to me (IE, am I actually seeing true rating, or just scouting interpretations of true talent)?

You're obviously using fictional players, which PS is not so strong on. Where PS really shines is in using historical players in existing seasons, say starting from 1946 to 2000. I'm not a fan of using fictional palyers, though many of us are. I don't want to start this debate again, but Shaun is still working on the game, though at irregular intervals.

Correct, fictional players. I find that when I do historical leagues, I rely too much on my existing knowledge of the players -- I like the challenge of scouting and developing fictional players since I don't have any knowledge of them.
Anyway, not trying to start or restart any debate, just curious if anyone else has noticed this trend. If it continues, it'll definitely limit how long a league can go before it really skews the results.

I have found the same to be true with draft players in fictional leagues. Of course I some times get a big surprise with who deloveps into a star player.

That's kind of disheartening to hear, as I am going to run a long term fictional league. I guess a pain in the neck work around would be to go in and edit the draft class, bumping their ratings up some.

I know the xml for the draft can be edited. I'm just not very good with editing. Ratings are our only way to evaluate players in fictional leagues. Don

You can edit without going into the xml, but players have to be on 1-100 scale. If you are using a different scale (I use 1-10), after the draft players have been generated, go into options and switch to a 1-100 scale. Then go into the draft report and click on the player and click on edit player. You can change the players ratings to whatever you want. Then you can switch back to the scale you want when you are done.
