That's quite a coincidence...I, too, am a longtime PCL fan...My first pro baseball experience was going to LA Angel games with my dad, "way back in the day"...LOL
By the way, I have my favorite PCL logo I would love to use as my photo here, when I post. Can you help me do that, Tomas?...

I figured it out...I should check out some of the old Angel rosters, but Steve Bilko, Chick Connors, and Frankie Baumholtz immediately come to mind...How did you fist get interested in the PCL?... Immediately, when I heard about Joe DiMaggio's a PCL-record 61 consecutive games, when he had played for the SF Seals ... I began to investigate PCL, when I was a lad ...... loved the teams names and the Organization started back in 1903, using just Western States ... It was a shame when they tore down that stadium to make way for some store ... BTW ... Thanks for the site ... very interesting and exciting read ... love the old history and former players ... the League has some great stats .... I remembered, The Mad Russian, had some powerful stats ...

Yes, it was real disappointing to see that magnificent stadium reduced to a parking lot!...It was a smaller replica of Chicago's famous ballpark (seated 20,000 fans, as I recall), and probably the finest minor league stadium in the US...All steel and congrete...If you saw the Frank Capra film, "Meet John Doe," you may recall the big convention rally held in the rain--that was all filmed in LA's Wrigley...In fact, the movie provides some rare inside pictures of that impressive structure...I loved it!...

Awesome ... the one I remembered was, I believed, was called the Pride of St. Louis ?, the one about Dizzy Dean ... great movie and the Stadium was in that picture ...

You really got me started on some nostalgic memories, Tomas...Angel fans hated the Hollywood Stars (and vice-versa!). It was a great rivalry...And, the Seals weren't liked by either Angels or Stars fans!...Anyway, I spent four summers in Sacramento, visiting my aunt and uncle. My grandmother and I traveled on the magnificent Southern Pacific Daylight--some called it America's most beautiful train. All my young friends there were avid Sacramento Solons fans, and of course I became one, also. We went to Sunday home games at Edmonds Field--double headers, played in the broiling Sacramento summer sun!...A 9-inning game, followed by a 7-inning game. Every PCL team played this schedule--Five night games and a Sunday double-header every week--Monday was travel day...

Yes Tomas, that is the best layout photo I have seen of Seals Stadium... do you mind if I cop the image for the 1958 SF Giants (copy it, that is)? Thanks for sharing, by the time I made it to San Francisco in the 1970's or so, the Ballpark was gone, in it's place was a Budweiser Beer Brewery (I believe?), I think that the latest SF Giants Stadium ATT Park was built over the land where Seals Stadium was located!? Rich history there, a great place for a Ballpark indeed...

I was in Sacramento that July day in 1948 when Edmunds Field burned to the ground! We heard about it on the radio news that night (July ll) and several of us took the bus out to the park the next morning...The old timbers went up like a torch! When we got there, the stands were nothing but ashes and bits of charcoal on the ground, in large puddles of water. Bits of Solon uniforms were scattered around--the only recognizable objects--The Sacramento Bee said the fire had created an inferno inside the stands that roasted the outfield fence--burning off the painted signs there...The team finished the season (as I recall) playing their remaining games on the road...We were all sad... By the way, check out this site; especially the blue links (The Players, The Ball Park, Cards and Photos) below the picture, for more info...Those photos were on baseball cards we collected... acorns.tripod.com/solons/index.html

Leegra:I grabbed this Angels logo and worked on it a bit for you. If you'd like to use it, I think this might be a little cleaner than your copy. Sometimes what'll happen if the logo is wider than tall (like this one), is the board will 'squish' it into a square. I think that's what happened to yours. I took care of that by adding white space to the top and bottom.

Holy Shmoly, mates !!!! ...
Enjoying the flow of the chattering of PCL days ...
Awesomest kind of you for doing that logo, Cat !!!! ... very Sharp Indeed!!
That park is for you all - not mine own ... just sharing what I find and to be useful for you all, whether it's in Fictional or PCL League ... only needed to manually adjusting the ball flight ...
THAT has to be very traumatic is seeing the old park burnt to the ground!! ... glad I had never witnessed such a vision ...

Thanks catknight, for sprucing-up my LA Wrigley Field avatar. It definitely looks better--you can now easily read the words "Flying High With" at the top of the logo...
Sorry prisonerno6, for delaying your departure. Got to bed a little later than usual myself, last night; but always enjoy re-thinking memories from the "Good Old Days."...Especially if they involve baseball!...
Tomas, Lou Novikoff (The Mad Russian) was a real character. along with his wife, Esther, who sat near home plate and yelled comments at Lou each time he came to bat. He played a bit before I began going to Angel games, but his antics were well-known...The Angels 1956 PCL Championship club stands out in my memory, led by slugger Steve Bilko...The next year, Phil Wrigley sold the entire franchise, including Wrigley Field, to the Dodgers. It had to happen, since all Angelinos (did I spell that correctly?) had been aching to have major league baseball move to the west coast...
