Historically, the A's didn't do very well in the ALDS. In 2000, they were up 1-0 and lost in 5. In 2001, they were up 2-0 (and heading home!) and lost in 5. In 2002, they were up 2-1 and lost in 5. In 2003, they were up 2-0 and lost in 5.Last year they never had a series lead, but also lost in 5. But I'm still rooting for the A's. Hopefully, 2013 is the year they break the jinx. Speaking of Sonny Gray, he's a revelation! Hoping that he repeats the postseason gem of a game he played when the A's defeated the Tigers: 1-0... Tell me about it! Living in the San Jose area at that time, it was hard to watch the A's fans go through that pain each year. By 2003, quite a few older A's fans had enough of Moneyball and wanted some "real" players and owner (see 1971 - 1975 A's) to take the A's to the next level. Heck, in 2003 at work we had twelve people call in sick the next day after Game Five.

Sheesh ... I remembered the early 70s A's ... unfrigginievable!!! ... (They had wonderful old times Baseball names) ... along with the other Dynasties of the Orioles and the Reds ... what a powerhouse teams to enjoy while they had played at Fenway ... I was fortunate, enough, in seeing the A's played ... especially, watching the then rookie - Jackson ... had his signature on the gamecard, that day ...
There's the late 40's Rock Hudson, in the middle of it all ...

Twelve people called in sick? That's it? Could have been worse. When living in Omaha, one year the Cornhuskers had beat up several small schools and were talking National title before even playing a larger school, undefeated, went down to play Arizona or Arizona St and lost 12-0. That week, there were three reported attempted suicides because of the loss. Talk about a bunch of people who need more options to choose from.

Talk about taking you football a little too seriously...
