Curious...
I know I have tried to play the OOTP... "The Golden Standard of PC Simulation Baseball Games"... still finding, within the framework structure, too overwhelming for my taste... I had been buying OOTP since 2006, except this year... and as always, still ended up playing PureSim - due to the Pureness and Simplicity of this Gem of Career-Mind Baseball Game... Yes, OOTP Mod and Forum is unsurpassed by any other games out there... absolutely incredible!!
Question to those who are playing OOTP, as well as, to the rest of the PC Baseball Games... .. . Will you come back to the NEW PureSim Version??

Oldtimer, you should try ootp16, the ball animation is vastly improved.
However, i too, find pure sim a gem of a game. It has everything you need with out being too much. It is just fun and i enjoy playing out past seasons of my favorite teams.
I have bought OOTP and baseball mogul since 2009. Mogul seems to have stalled, nothing really new in a couple years.
I would buy puresim if it goes back in development.

I would definitely jump back in if PS2017 became available! I also love OOTP too though and have enjoyed both immensely. Is there a definite plan to resurrect PS in the future?
Funny thing is...I started with PS2007 so...10 years later a remake would be great!

Hey, sth0009!!
Good to hear from you... Glad to hear about the ball animation!! ... is there an easier way that can emulate PureSim setting without all those wonderful bells and whistles, I mean that truly without being sarcastic... just it is overwhelming...

Hmmm... Good question, Tomas.
Frankly speaking, though, it's unlikely -- even given the fact that I always will have affection for Puresim, because it was the first baseball text sim I ever played.
For one thing, I am heavily invested in my OOTP leagues. One of my fictional leagues is set up in a fictional country with players of different ethnicities. (I wonder if the new version of Puresim will have such a feature of allowing us to create our own customized baseball world, among other things.)
For another, I really enjoy playing OOTP. For sure, OOTP comes with a steep learning curve. But once you get the hang of it, its complexity is actually a plus factor, because it allows you to customize the game in a way that is not possible in other games.
Having said that I can understand those who would opt to still play Puresim. Its simplicity and ease of use indeed still makes Puresim a great choice for those who find OOTP's complexity and steep learning curve a challenging and daunting task...

I'm...maybe. I downloaded the new version, and for some reason it's laggy on my system even though much more intensive games like flight simulators and grand strategy wargames work fine. I'm definitely interested in seeing what Shaun comes up with. I do enjoy the simplicity.

Hey, my Golfing Guru, Monk!!
With your kind of mind, glad you're able to handle the OOTP World!! ... Someday, maybe someday, I'll get over that hump... Thanks for your reply, mate...
As for Catknight, I, too, has been experiencing the slowness between frames... for whatever reason, it may lie toward the Window 10 patches... cause at the beginning, it wasn't so... but after several patches later. the lulls are more evidence, lately... but the Game still plays beautifully despite the slowness between frames... Glad to know that I'm not the only one experiences that...
Have a great night, mates...

Tomas, I would definitely comeback to support the game. I think it is important to help keep independent developers like Shaun putting out great games.
I will not leave OOTP though as I have figured out a way to play my way and not get too bogged down in all of the little details. Now I do need to say that I play fictional, so I don't have the seven layers of minors. I have just come to appreciate the associations I have created and I have gotten a joy out of playing them.
That said I would love to play modern day MLB associations, but I just don't handle such a large minor league set up. That is what I would hope to see with PureSim reboot.

HEY, TAZ!!!
I would love to hear your setup and in what ways you had overcome the OOTP's incredible arrays of possibilities...

I'm back already. Something about Puresim that keeps drawing me back in. Can't wait for Shaun's re-build/new version. OOTP players: Someone mentioned that OOTP has ball flight animation now. Is it as good as Puresim's?

Hey, agorjest...
At the time, it was not, but I have heard it has improved since with the newest version and patch...
Many former players may chime in, soon...
Luck of the Irish to you, Lad

Is it as good as Puresim's? If you play using the 3D View, OOTP has definitely caught up with Puresim's ball flight animation. In addition, it's a joy to see the different MLB baseball stadiums in 3D. Also, realism is added when you see the pawns, which represents the players, moving and throwing the ball when you're watching the game. You see the ground balls, fly balls and line drives, as well as the defensive shifts. The 3D view is one of my favorite new features of OOTP. Definitely, a big improvement to watching your game (both in Puresim and OOTP) in 2D. However, it's quite rudimentary. It's still a work-in-process, but a step in the right direction. Hopefully, it will evolve to the realism we see in Football Manager...

I would support Shaun if PureSim goes into development again. I will be watching how things progress.

If the issues with single player fictional mode can be fixed...especially the financial side...I would definitely purchase a new version. The free OOTP version they gave away a number of years ago is good..but I still love the PureSim approach and interface much better.

Hey, redfox!!!
Good to see you, mate... how's the development of your software coming along... I have been so wrap up with my business, that's has been keeping me busy, with crew and ending up dog-tired at the end of the day...
Curious about your issues with the Fictional mode... hope you can share your displeasure... I, usually turns mine off with the Finances, as well and just focus the strategies of playing Baseball - like the Old Days...
And That's Baseball
