Morning, mates ...
Since, the PureSim Bar, has been kinda quiet in the past year or so ...
I thought I'll pose the topic of "How and Why are you STILL playing this Game ?" ...

OMG! It's Tomas as I live and breathe. When I saw the word "Mates", I knew it must be you. I miss you and still love you (in a manly way). I hope all is well with you and yours When did you get old? I always found you to be youthful in an immature teenage kind of way (maybe kidding), but it is good to "see" you again.
No, I am not playing the game but I visit the forum regularly hoping against hope that something is happening. Although there is no new game on the horizon, you have appeared so my time hasn't been wasted. I'm still the Prisoner of China and you should write us a 5,000 word essay (or less please) on what you've been up to.
I blog (as you know) so my life is a semi-open book. How is yours?
I look forward to hearing more.

I still have the game, but haven't played for awhile. I have been playing OOTP.

I still play because it is the most user friendly one out there and tons of fun. I just wish the other things we wanted would have come along and make it even better. Especially if the web page was set up so people come in and enter a created season and jump in any game that day and play HTH. Go through seasons like that. Several seasons could be going at the same time. If he put in the few things I most want, I would no doubt buy the game again as well as my Brother in Law. I think being able to go to a page and be allowed to play HTH would bring in a lot of people.
Does OOTP have HTH ability? I have the demo, but do not find the game to be easy to get around in it like one can in PS. With PS, I can setup a season, set my team and be in a game in a few minutes. I was over an hour with OOTP and still never got to a game. I finally did get to play one game about a month or so ago. PS graphics are much better.

Yes it does take a lot more effort to play OOTP. I just got tired of the glitches in ratings and line ups. I wish things could go back to the way they were. I just can't see it happening.

Yeah, I'm with you, Mark ... for I have tried and tried again with OOTP ... sheesh, I had been buying OOTP since the 13th versions (even all the earliest ones and still can't get into the Game) ... yes, the Game has the best rating and is the Gold Standard of all PC format ... and has all the richest talents of mod creators ... but thank goodness, with a little modification, most of photos, parks and logos do very well ...
As far as, the glitches, Don, there are less when playing in the Fictional World ... where the unknown becomes FUN ... (how do you play OOTP and what did you find could be easier for us to play, Don)
As for Martin, I have been a Property Preservationist for the local banks, in the last several years ... has been swamped with so much Work Orders, these days ... keep an old man a little busy with all the fresh air, sunshine and exercises ... I'm thankful that I can work ... have my health ... and what little brain I have intact, these days ... yeah, I have a GS name Jabez (a year old, yesterday) ... and a bunch of homeless cats outside around the house to keep me - sensitive ...
Just wished Shaun frequent the place, but am thankful for the forum being here ... and a hangout with my old friends ...
And That's Baseball ...

Tomas, I'm glad to hear you are well and busy. I'm also glad your health is well and you still have a tiny bit of your brain. Do homeless cats keep you sensitive? They would keep me even more crazy than I am. I'm really glad you stopped by. It's the only news of note on this board in a long time.

I think PS is a lot easier to set up and play. Also I only play fictional leagues. OOTP can be a pain to keep up with and I only do the bare minimum that I have to. PS changed after you had a league run for a decade. Players with very good ratings never (almost) performed well. Ratings are all you have to determine a players abilities. I always used 1-100 scale.

It's good to hear from you, Tomas!
Like Don I haven't played Puresim for sometime. To get my baseball fix, I play OOTP.
I have to agree: OOTP has a steep learning curve. But once you get the hang of it, it could be fun playing it. Puresim's strength, however, is its simplicity and ease of use.
But although I don't play Puresim that much these days, I still visit the Puresim forums almost daily...

I like PureSim for a lot of reasons. I like to draft from real historic players I grew up watching. But here are my frustrations:
1. Too many double plays. I can win a lot of games drafting a hit and run speed team to avoid this problem. But if I draft a slow team my guys can hit into record breaking numbers of double plays. 2. Walks don't happen correctly. There is too much regression to the average from an extreme player. If I draft a Ted Williams who should walk 120+ times, he'll get 90. If I draft a free swinger like Vince Coleman who should walk 35 times, he'll get 55. 3. Relief pitchers get hit a little too hard. For some reason I usually have a bullpen with 5-7 ERA types, even when I use platoon advantage often to exploit the computer staking 3-4 same sided hitters in a row.

Hi guys. I have not played PureSim baseball for sometime now. I have tried OOTP (every version since version 1 dating back to 1999), Action! PC baseball, Diamond Mind baseball and Strat-O-Matic baseball in the past year.
Just cannot seem to get involved with any of them right now.
Anyway, it is great to read your posts and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Wow! On a whim, I thought I'd stop by and see the latest on PureSim and it's really great to read posts from you Tomas, and others who have enjoyed PS through the years. It's been awhile since I've played PS, but I'm going to start the new year by reviving some of my favorite leagues and past seasons. I hope others do the same and keep us informed here. Thanks for starting this thread Tomas. it's nice to see familiar names and posts here (especially yours), and know the forum is still attracting loyal PS supporters.
Lee Graves
PS--Wish Shaun would check in...

anyone else have the same problems I have? have you ever seen high walk rate players or low walk rate players match their real life stats?

It is whacky. Lately, I have had pitchers with 90+ control end a game with 6 walks and two strikeouts. Despite the quirks, it is still the best overall BB game out there and it is free. I would love to see some things as many other people would like to see things, but just don't think any of it will ever happen.

Still playing, this is a great game wish it was still supported for development.
