No worries Blazer. I especially look forward to the transactions. So far, I do real players with tru life transactions, but I don't check to see what they are. I prefer to get the surprises. One of these days, I will have to do my own manager career and tru life transactions over several seasons. I'd still like to see a mode where you can be fired and take over an available team with the options of playing as Manager, GM or both. That would be cool.

Let see if we can get 30 signatures, to ask Shaun, for another Option with the same function, as the Challenge mode ...

DALLAS TOO MUCH FOR HARTFORD
Well what can I say, we were out classed by Dallas on the road. They took all three games from us to drop us to 2-4 for the season. I am was thinking that we would hit well enough to squeak a few wins out as our pitching has not been too bad. See the real life Seattle Mariners (apparently the same results too).
Game 1 - The one pitchers dual we had during the series as we end up losing 2-1. The worst part of it, the winning run was a home run hit by the opposing pitcher. Both starters were strong, but when you are only getting three hits you can't expect to score that many runs. Unfortunately what appeared to be an exciting series after one game turns out to be....well see below.
Game 2 - We lose this one 5-2. Here is the real kicker, they scored five runs on only three hits. So you might ask how was it they ended up with all of the runs off of the three hits. Try two errors and three walks. For some reason we just could not get out of our own way. We did score a couple of runs in the final three innings to make it reasonable, but still not enough. I was really hoping to have a stronger defense, but we seem to cough it up in bunches. Still not as bad as the last game of the series.
Game 3 - Not much you can say about this one outside of a 7-2 loss. We manage only four hits as their starter manages to go all nine for the complete game. Since I am not really happy about the play during this game (or series) I am going to let this one go.
Next up for us is the St. Louis Diamond Kats who are struggling to start the season as they are off to a 1-5 start. Hoping for our first wins on the road, this should be interesting.
The current standings after six games:
Dallas 6 - 0 -- Cincinnati 3-3 3 Hartford 2 - 4 4 St. Louis 1 - 5 5

Just a couple of notes at this point in the season.
Our hitting is just horrible. We are batting a whopping .150 after six games (I know it is early in the season, but still). We are only getting any production from our catcher William Jackson who is hitting .304 (1 homer) and RF Keith Overlook at .250 (2 homers). The rest of the line up is only wishing they could find the Mendoza line.
Jackson is a career .269 hitter moderate power (although the last three season he has hit .285-.295), so maybe he can keep his batting average around where it is with little drop off. What is scary is we are relying on a 31 year old catcher to lead our team in batting, but then if Mike Piazza can do it why not Jackson. Thankfully we have him signed for another four years at $3,148,038 per season. William was a forth round pick in 2005. After spending half a season in AA, he has been on the big league clubs roster ever since.
Overlook on the other hand is a career .300 hitter, so I expect him to improve his numbers. He is our most expense player at $9,411,349 for another three seasons. He is a doubles machine hitting in the upper 40's per season, with a season high of 64 during the 2008 season. He came to the Sea Lions in a trade from the Dallas Stallions in 2011. Very good defensive outfielder with a rifle for an arm.
One thing that has been troubling has been the promotion of Eric Winters from AA to take the spot of injured 2B Marquis Almonte (15 day DL). I brought him up based on his defensive strength, but he appears to be over matched with the big league pitching early on. I passed up on our AAA option Joseph Eshelman who is a 35 year old journey man who hit .149 with Providence last year. (Not sure why the out going GM signed him to a two year deal). I see can see Winters is a stronger defensive player at second, so I thought it was the right thing to do, as he was able to hit .259 the last two season at AA. Not sure if I am damaging him, so any advice would be appreciated.
As I mentioned when I took over this team it was definitely built on pitching, but I need some hitters. Oh well, off to St. Louis for what I hope is better news.

It'll take about a month for your team - with the right chemistry - to form a nucleus, of the kind of team that you're expecting, to win more than they lose ...

Just a quick note, this is not dead. I have just been preparing for a presentation in a couple of weeks, so I have had to focus on work. I have also been trying to learn another team management sim (FM), so I have had to split my free time between the two.

Apologies for not reading sooner, but this sounds like a fun association. I'll be following along. When I was scrolling down your list of teams, three caught my eye for different reasons. First, I noticed the San Diego Sailors. I'm retired USN, although strictly east coast variety. Second, an Atlanta team always interests me. The 3rd one, though, has to be my choice. GO PHANTOMS!!!

Frustration has finally set in. My league file has just been corrupted due to someone borrowing my laptop had shutting down. Unfortunately they did not ask me if I had anything running in the background. Argh!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well I will try again in a little bit, as I need to calm down. Takes too much time to get these things set up.

One can always get a protected folder software , that will keep prying eyes/hands from interfering your Game ... lucky for me, just cats and Therese (she has her own laptop, Nookie and Iphone to keep herself from being tempted to use mine ) ... sorry for the misfortune, mate ... kids will do that to you , but I love them (sigh)...

External HD should work with a laptop as well.

You the man, Jabez! Your lady has her own nookie? How does she feel about you sharing that intimate detail with all us PureSimmers?

Same here, Tomas. Glad, too, that my wife, Jojang, has her own laptop. In fact, hers is the newer and faster one. (She uses it mainly for her online work). My laptop in a 7 year-old Dell Inspiron still running on XP. Probably need to buy a new one sometime soon. Anyway, I really understand blazertaz's predicament. When my game files get corrupted, I really feel bad and it sucks the life out of me, and it usually takes me quite sometime to get back to the game again...

Well I have started a new association (two leagues three divisions total 24 teams). My plan is to be only the GM and let the AI be the manager. As such, I will control the roster, draft, trades, promotions and demotions. The AI will manage each game and set the lineups/pitching rotation. I intend to watch each game to get a feel for the team by watching. I am hoping to get through seasons a little faster, and see if I can get a good feel for the team this way. I am open to suggestions on this approach, but I figure why not try something new.

I just don't know if it is worth typing about as of yet. Maybe if I can make it through a season with any issues, I might start over. So far the team can't pitch in close game situations to save itself. Then again you need to hit just a little bit first. :-)
